Alcohol and Other Drugs

Alcohol and drug abuse is a serious concern for some college students; the information and resources on these pages will assist you in understanding the risks of alcohol and drug use, and aid you in making informed choices.

Upon arriving at Caltech, students find that they have an increased amount of independence regarding their health behaviors and lifestyle choices. One important choice that students make is about the use of alcohol and other drugs.

It is important to note that many students at Caltech choose to abstain from substances. There are many peers who enjoy themselves in social settings without the use of alcohol and other drugs. Some students choose to engage in substance use during their time at Caltech. Please be aware of the Institute Substance Abuse Policy. Read more about the community standards regarding Alcohol and Other Drugs on Campus.

If you make the choice to consume alcohol or other drugs, it is important to consider how this behavior fits in with your overall life goals and value system. It is also important to consider the inherent risks associated with substance use and how this behavior may impact you and the Caltech community.
