About the e-CHECKUP TO GO assessments:
The Alcohol & Marijuana e-CHECKUP TO GO are alcohol and marijuana-specific brief assessment tools designed to educate college students about their substance use. The assessments take about 15-20 minutes to complete, and are self-guided.
How does it work?
When you access the Alcohol and/or Marijuana e-CHECKUP TO GO survey, you are prompted to enter information about yourself. In addition to demographic information, you will describe your use of alcohol/marijuana, spending patterns, any perceived negative consequences, and general lifestyle information. Each e-CHECKUP TO GO survey calculates a number of variables and compares your responses to national and Caltech-specific behavioral norms. Then, that information is displayed in a personalized, easy-to-read format.
Okay, but can anyone else see my data/information?
The assessment is confidential - your responses cannot be connected to your identifying information.
There is an electronic verification feature at the end of the survey that can be used if you would like to notify Student Counseling Services staff that you took the assessment and are interested in receiving additional support for your concerns. This feature includes only basic data such as your name, email, user ID number (not your Caltech UID), a completion verification ID number (not your Caltech UID), and the date you completed the survey. It does not include access to your specific responses or assessment data.
If you have been asked to take an e-CHECKUP TO GO assessment as part of a mandated Substance Use Assessment, please take note of your User Identification Number (UID), as this cannot be retrieved by Student Counseling Services staff.
Additional information about Confidentiality and Access:
Before you begin the Alcohol and/or Marijuana e-CHECKUP TO GO, you will be given a User Identification Number (UID). You will be given the option to print out your UID, or you may write it down for safekeeping. It is essential that you do not share your UID with anyone and that you keep it secure to ensure confidentiality of your responses. After you complete the assessment, you will need your UID if you wish to:
