Maurice Marcel Garcia, Director, Transgender Surgery Program , Cedars-Sinai,
Speaker's Bio:
Maurice M. Garcia, MD, MAS is Associate Clinical Professor of Urologic Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (in residence) and at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) (Adjunct). He completed 2 fellowships in: Andrology & Neurourology (UCSF), and, Genital Gender Affirming Surgery (GAS) (University College London, UK) and one 2-year Master's Degree in Clinical Research (UCSF). He specializes in both masculinizing and feminizing transgender surgery, sexual medicine, clinical outcome research, transgender surgery/care education, and surgery device design. He founded the genital GAS program at UCSF in 2013, and in 2017, he was recruited to found and Direct Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's first Transgender Surgery and Health Program, in Los Angeles. As Program Director, Dr. Garcia oversees all transgender program clinical care. He is an active member of and educator for WPATH, and co-author of the upcoming WPATH Standards of Care (v. 8). He is also an active member and educator for the American Urologic Association, and is the Core Curriculum lead for the transgender care section of American Urologic Association's Office of Education. Dr. Garcia's research is funded by the NIH (P.I. for NIH R01 Grant # 1R01CA12430728), and he has 6 issued and several pending U.S. and International Patents.
